Community Playmaker Program

To Dish: “In hockey slang, ‘to dish’ means to make a quick, precise pass to a teammate, often setting them up for a scoring opportunity.”

An Apple: “In hockey slang, an ‘apple’ is another term for an assist—the pass or play that directly leads to a goal being scored.”

Dishing Apples Hockey began as an idea several years ago when I was coaching in PeeWees.  The original concept came about when I had a player who was playing with some equipment that was too small.  Due to financial constraints, he could not get the size equipment he needed so my wife and I tracked down a pair of skates in the community.

The Community Playmaker Program at Dishing Apples Hockey is a mechanism to “dish assists” to others in the community to help them stay on the ice.  Let’s not let any of our players miss out on this great sport.

If you are in need, know someone in need, or are willing to assist, please fill out the form below.  As we roll this program out, we will have a mechanism for letting us know what you are willing to give, what we have a need for, and how we can match these two up to provide a Community Assist.  Our focus right now is equipment, but we will seek to match this up with our Ambassador Program for mentorship, and provide other opportunities such as camps and community events to our Community Playmaker Program participants.

Please let us know about opportunities for us to give back. Please be descriptive and include what kind of assist we can provide or what kind of help you are willing to give in support. If you are dishing an apple, please describe what (general, skates size 7, etc.)

Note: We are NOT a non-profit and at this time, we do not accept any monetary giving. Our goal is to connect resources from those willing and able to give to those in need.
